View Full Version : So everything is on order
I have more questions and I'd like to get all this in and tuned before we all go to MATT is possible. Maybe some people wanna help out and spend the weekend over here in a couple weeks getting it all in and dialed in.
Ok so on order is the return line setup/ Aeromotive fpr, Autometer fuel psi gauge and Summit fuel pressure gauge (one for under the hood and one in the car), and the Walbro 255.
So I guess first off questions...
This setup is going to work fine on the stage 1 injectors right?
What should I be setting the fuel pressure at?
Anyone know how to tune a Dtec FC?
Would it be better for me to get it all in and then drop it at Sound Performance or ASpec and let them tune it?
I've been trying to read all I can... But without it all in front of me and me seeing it it's hard for me to comprehend. I'm the type of person you show once and I get it that way.

I know for a fact that SP hasn't tuned with a DTEC before. When I was getting dyno'd I told them about it and they said they never worked with one but they said with a SAFC you tune the car and then the car losses its tune or something. They basically said they've had lots of problems with SRT-4's lol.

What return line did you get?

Usually the pressure it set around 40 psi with the vaccume line attached. Also it will work fine with the stock injectors. From what I hear the dtec is pretty easy to tune and you could probably get a good street tune once you figure out how it works.
Also I'm not sure on who or if anyone will tune srt-4's out here. Wel I shouldn't say that, everyone WILL tune it but they are jsut as experienced as you are. Aside from AMS, but they wont make time for anyone to tune unless you're spending big $$$'s.

I'll be working with a Dtec his weekend most likely so I might be able to help you out. It doesn't seem too bad to work with. SLightly more complicated than an SAFC but not much. Start your pressure at 58 and turn it down as you start doing pulls. You don't want to start out too low and hurt something. So better to just turn it down slowly

Use static pressure. I highly doubt your car would need any more.
What return line did you get?I pieced my own stuff together.

what kind of psi are you going to run? give out your full list of mods and i can recommend a pressure to run on stock injectors. i'd also recommend doing static pressure. i have my setup on stage 1 injectors and static and my car has been running great for ~ 3 mo's now. i can also give a hand tuning if you'd like to save money. you seem like the type to tinker with it yourself vs paying. i'm sure you'l be excited to get that fuel problem fixed 2 years later. lol

chrisYeah this will definitely be the band aid that fixes it. It's not so much that I'm a cheap ass but I'd rather learn and understand it rather then pay someone to do it and have no clue what's wrong with if something were to happen.
Mods list well lets see... I pretty much have all the bolts ons and will be 2 steps from going big turbo. But anyways...
FBM mani/turbo

CCA fmic
AGP Wga
Dtec
03 rail
return line
Walbro 255

run ~70 static and tune down from there. throw some race gas in and start pulling fuel until you get ~ .5 to 1 count of knock retard. also i'd recommend running around 19 - 20 psi. let me know if you'd like help.

I was running off vacume with my s2 and boomba fuel rail no walbro and an s-afc tuner when I did the 290+ hp on a dynojet.
Now I am running off vacume with slightly larger injectors and boomba with the walbro on the ems and pushing 310 on a mustang dyno.
So really I guess it's just more a matter of preference and whast you need to do to get your car running right.

if you're running off vaccuum.. your fpr would be pulling fuel. do you have a more specific idea as to where they tapped the source? stock injectors have trapped ~ 111 - 115 and been in the 11's. they have enough fuel :top:

Sorry I am dumb, wasn't a vaccuum line obviously, it's t'd into the intake manifold.
Well you'd know better than me on the stock injectors, I didn't hang around with them to long and my fuel system is way overkill for a stock turbo.

i'd recommend switching it to a non vaccumm source.. i.e. before the throttlebody. red line or at the turbo would work

I'm going to leave it for now because the car is running great, though I want to retune this car, just need to get a new hd for my laptop.
Perhaps you and murray could give me a hand there and maybe we can all figure this system out.
I figured out a few more things with the EMS which was restricting me from giong over 18psi. I have it noted but can't raise the boost until I have my laptop fixed and I am ready to retune again.
Ok so quick question.. Am I missing something here? I don't need to do any other modifications to the fuel pump and tank other then getting the Walbro installed and running a hose back into the tank for the returned fuel right?
I keep seeing posts about blocking off stock regulators or removing O rings. It's confusing me.
Other then that everything is here. I went and picked up some Waterweld to seal the bulkhead fitting into the tank. I'm just waiting on parts I forgot to order from MPSC which should be here in a few days.

You need to seal the stock regulator

X2, yea use some water weld to clog up the regulator. I have some extra water weld and can be done in a few minutes. Let me know if you want me to bring some to the meet tonight. You can do it without removing the tank, but try not to have a lot of fuel in the tank.
the screw driver is touching the water weld

Yeah I already have a brand new package but thanks...
Ok so when I do the pump I clog the old regulator? The aeromotive regulator does all the regulation then..

YEah. If you're doing your returnline at the same time just do it then. When you do the returnline it has to be blocked off and the Aeromotive regulator controls it
